Description

PUGLIA - Martina Franca - Via Giuseppe Mazzini

The Baroque village of Martina Franca is a real pearl of the fantastic Valle d'Itria, an ideal destination for those who want to discover a side of Puglia less "overwhelmed" by mass tourism.

Walking through the characteristic flowery alleys, among prestigious noble palaces, churches and typical stone houses covered with white lime, we arrive in Via Mazzini where we find an imposing historic Building, "Palazzo Semeraro" called Casa del Cavaliere.

The Building, located in front of the ancient Church of San Vito, dates back to 1733 and was strongly desired by the noble Michele Semeraro, known as the "Cavaliere di Martina".

The prospectus is characterized by an imposing portal with a double frame in ashlar, decorated by columns with capitals and brackets supporting the balcony in the shape of volutes embellished by an indented frame. The Building has two other side entrances on via Girolamo Savonarola and via Niccolò Machiavelli

The structure, with a rectangular plan organized around an internal courtyard, is spread over three levels on the ground, first and second floors, with terraces, and is to be restored.

The door opens on the ground floor onto an entrance hall towards the two-flight staircase that leads to the noble floor. On the area behind the staircase three other rooms.

On the first floor, the residence develops around the loggia with numerous large rooms dominated by high vaults with corners and lunetted barrel vaults with central panels of various shapes. The rooms are decorated with frescoes with curvilinear and figurative geometric motifs. However, most of the vaults on the noble floor are plastered and have no traces of frescoes, although the boxes intended to contain them are clearly visible

Upstairs a series of attics connected to the three separate terraces overlooking the characteristic Borgo Antico of Martina Franca.

Martina Franca is a wonderful experience, just as it can be to imagine living in a noble palace as a private residence or as an investment to transform it into a charming hotel or B&B for your customers to experience.
